Number 7 Bryn Awel

Number 7 Bryn Awel Terrace was totally upgraded in 2016 to provide a lovely holiday home, slightly out of the town so it is a quiet location, even on busy summer days but it is still within easy walking distance of the beach and shops. With walks in the hills literally starting from your doorstep the cottage is a fantastic all-round holiday home.

The cottage is kitted out with the idea that, hopefully, you are going to stay several days, and maybe a week or so, with us and will want to feel at home during your stay. Comfy bedrooms, a nice big shower and space to relax, all with a seaside feel to the decor. If you want to do some cooking in the lovely bright kitchen then we have made sure that you have all the equipment that you might need to rustle up a lovely, yummy meal. Here is some detail about the cottage.

Let’s start at the back door. This is the door off the lane. We generally use this door in preference to the front door, because access is easier. In essence this is an upside down cottage so when you enter through the door off the lane, you are on the first floor where there is the bathroom together with the two bedrooms.

The bathroom has a big shower area with a nice powerful shower, plus loo and wash basin.

The main bedroom has a king-size bed and plenty of floor space to make this a comfortable room for your holiday. There are bedside tables either side of the bed, with lamps, together with a good-size wardrobe with two drawers underneath and an easy chair where you can sit and enjoy the view out over the town and bay.

The other bedroom is a single bedroom, with bedside table and chest of drawers, so plenty of drawer space in this room. Again, there are views out across the town and the bay.

The bedrooms are both light, bright rooms

Then down the stairs to the living area. The stairs are steep but there are handrails on both sides. We welcome children but would warn parents of a small child that they would need to take care with access to the stairs. A travel cot and highchair are available but stored elsewhere, so please let us know if you are going to need either of these and we can make sure that they are available for you when you arrive. There is no charge, it is just a matter of pre-warning so that we can organise for them to be in the cottage.

The living room has a door into a small porch which leads out onto the front of the terrace, where there is a small flowerbed and a bench on which to sit.

Back to the living room; this is a living/dining area with a table which can be extended to fit 4+ people or folded up for two people. There is a two-seater sofa and a chair, both in black leather – very practical if dogs are in the cottage and forget that they are not supposed to be on furniture! There is a 32” TV and the option to bring your Skybox if you wish. Otherwise, Freeview channels are available. The Wifi box is located behind the TV. There is a good, strong Wifi signal in the cottage.

We have a log-burner installed in the feature fireplace. We have stripped back the fireplace to the original Welsh stone during our recent renovation and are very pleased with the look we have achieved. Also in the living room are shelves with holiday books, some recipe books, lots of local information and some games. Again, this room is a light and bright room, with additional light from two standard lamps, plus the central light.

The kitchen leads off from the living room and, again, this is a light, bright space. There is a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and cooker with two ovens. There is plenty of cupboard space and we hope that we have kitted out the kitchen equipment with anything that you could need on your holiday.

There is also an iron and ironing board, together with a microwave and cleaning materials. There is a hairdryer in the bedroom.

All linen and towels for use in the cottage are supplied, including tea towels. Please bring beach towels.

The parking space is on the lane opposite the back door.

Down the side of the cottage, which is the end of the terrace, are steps leading down to a right of way around the property. There is a garden off this that you are invited to share with us. Our holiday cottage is next door and we will also be using the garden when we are in Barmouth.
